Bill Yates
“I’m excited about working with Tom and his sons, they are like family to me and I know that they will continue serving the people of our community the way I’d want them to be served.”
Bill Yates, known to many as "Billy," was born and raised in Fort Pierce, Florida. He grew up in the funeral business. He worked with his father, Joe Yates, until his death in 1965. Bill Yates graduated from Dan McCarty High School in 1962
and from Miami-Dade in Mortuary Science Program in 1967. He was past president and member of Emergency Medical Services Board from 1983 – 1990. Bill was president of the Tri-County Funeral Directors Association in 1976-1977. He is a
member of Amara Shrine, Fort Pierce Shrine Club, Fort Pierce Lodge #87 F&AM, Fort Pierce York Rite Bodies.
He and his wife, Betsy, have been married for over 40 years. When he is not helping families, Bill enjoys fishing, hunting, and collecting coins.
Thomas Conway, Sr.
“When Bill gave me the opportunity to work with him, I was truly honored. Just like Bill, my family’s legacy has been about helping people and I hope to blend the heritage of the Yates family into my own.”
Tom Conway, Sr. has been licensed as a funeral director for almost 30 years and is a fourth generation funeral director. Working most of his career for his own family’s funeral home, in 2003 Tom moved on and purchased the Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home, located in Okeechobee, Florida.
Tom is married to Lisa and they together have seven children, two of whom are now entering the funeral service as fifth generation funeral directors.
Paul R. Mitchell
Paul R. Mitchell, Licensed Funeral Director in Florida for 37 years, owner and partner with Thomas G. Conway Sr. for the past six years. Paul sits on the board of the Florida Funeral Directors Association, where he is co-chairman of the Legislative committee. His passion is serving people and he is actively involved with community volunteer organizations.
He is married and has three step-children and four grandchildren.
Nathan Clopman
Born in Ontario, Canada and raised in northern New York in a family business and appreciate the service and attention family businesses are able to provide to the community. I have a B.S. in Marketing from Clarkson University, located in Potsdam, New York (2004) an A.S. Mortuary Science from State University of New York at Canton (2005) and I worked for a family run funeral homewhile attending mortuary college.
I moved to Florida in 2005 working in the funeral business and moved to the Treasure Coast recently to be near immediate family who relocated here in 2008-2009. I enjoy what I do, but when not serving others I enjoy playing golf, softball, watching the Boston Red Sox, Montreal Canadians and of course the Miami Dolphins with my two dogs Hemi and Jimmy.
Thomas G. Metts
Thomas G. Metts was born in Haddonfield, Camden County, New Jersey, which is just across the Delaware River from Philadelphia. He graduated from Haddonfield Public Schools and Camden County Community College with an Associate Degree in Arts and Science. He received his Certificate of Proficiency in Mortuary Science from Mercer County Community College in West Windsor, NJ. He is a licensed Funeral Director & Embalmer in the states of NJ, PA, and FL. Tom is also a Certified Death Investigator, receiving his certification from the University of Saint Louis Medical School in 1977.
He was an Associate Partner with Holl-Murphy Funeral Home of Haddonfield for 31 years and also concurrently owned and operated Metts Funeral Home of Barrington, NJ for 11 years. He retired from the Camden County Medical Examiner's Office in Pennsauken, NJ, as their Sr. Medical Investigator after 14 years of service in 2002.
He is a member of the National Funeral Director's Association.
Tom lives in Vero Beach with his Dachshund, "Grette", his Yorkie, "Rudy", and his Shidoodle, "Frostie".
