Samuel Farabee Varn

August 18, 1933 - February 16, 2010

Samuel Farabee Varn, 76, of Palm City, Florida, died February 16, 2010 at Martin Memorial Medical Center North in Stuart, Florida. Born in Winter Haven, Florida, he had been a resident of Fort Pierce since 1939.

He was a graduate of Fort Pierce High School, class of 1951 and attended the University of Florida for two years, before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1953. He served in the Viet Nam War and retired in 1973 with the rank of Major.

He was a ham radio operator, using the call sign KE4EI.

Survivors include his two daughters, Stacey Arnold Bastrop of Texas & Sharon Varn of Missoula, Montana; one sister, Stephanie Varn Kite of Phoenix, Arizona; one brother, Robert S. Varn of Fort Pierce; & three grandchildren.

Mr. Varn was preceded in death by his parents, Myron M. and Jean Farabee Varn; & his brother, Myron M. “Mac” Varn, Jr.

Funeral Information

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., February 20, 2010 at the Yates Funeral Home & Crematory, Fort Pierce Chapel with the Rev. Mary A. Rosendahl officiating.

Entombment will follow at the Florida Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Rockledge, Florida.
