Peggy Jane Hamilton

Peggy Jane Hamilton, 85, of Aventura, Florida passed away Sept. 4, 2010 at Aventura Medical Center. Born in Trenton, New Jersey, she was the oldest child of Dr. Lloyd. Alexander Hamilton and Mary Marguerite Peterman Hamilton, Peggy Jane grew up in Lambertville, NJ. She was an avid equestrian including competitive events in her youth and played tennis in her later years. Peggy Jane was a graduate of Wilson College and received a master’s degree from the University of Florida, political science and interior design, also taught in the architecture department.
She enjoyed, a very successful career as a talented interior designer of livable, functional and pleasing homes, offices and workplaces, specializing in banks. She traveled extensively to locations such as France, Peru, Spain, and Cape Cod. Peggy Jane was a former 37 year resident of Fort Pierce, moving to Miami, FL in 2004.
Survivors include her son, Mark H. Smith of Miami Lakes, FL; 2 grandsons, Jason Charles Smith and Eric Francis Smith; and 2 brothers, Dr. Lloyd A. Hamilton and James N. P. Hamilton. Peggy Jane is preceded in death by her son, Rupert Jason “Rob’ Smith Jr.

Funeral Information

A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday, September 11, 2010 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at Yates Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Reception will be from 12:30 pm until 3:00 pm, Saturday at the Pelican Yacht Club, Fort Pierce, South Beach.
