Rev. Don Hays

Reverend Don Hays, 86, Port St. Lucie died at his residence on July 21, 2012.
He was born in White City, Florida and lived on the Treasure Coast throughout his life.
He was a Sergeant for the US Army in South Pacific in World War II. He was awarded a Citation of valor for the recovery of Colonels deceased brothers remains in the Philippines. He was a pastor of Baptist Churches for 41 years and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree of Divinity on June 4, 2004 by heritage Baptist Church College. He was a leader in establishing 3 churches and revived 2 churches on the verge of disbanding. During his ministry he served as a Nursing Home Chaplin for 3 years , radio Ministry for 10 years, and served on Advisory Committee for 5 years at Florida Baptist College.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Hays and sister, Louise Barrington.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Janet Hays; son, Daniel Hays; daughters, Jo Ann Knight and Renee Guise; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral Information

A visitation will be held on Tuesday July 24, 2012 from 10-11 am with a service to follow at 11 am, officiated by Reverend Derek Burrus at Liberty Baptist Church, 3660 West Midway Road, Fort Pierce, FL. Burial will follow at White City Cemetery, with Pastor Wallace Cooley officiating.
