Elwood "Woody" Joseph Kleman

On June 30, 2012, Elwood "Woody" Joseph Kleman lost his battle with ALS. He died peacefully at Treasure Coast Hospice House in Fort Pierce, Florida surrounded by his loving wife Marian and mother Lena Kleman.

Born in Altoona, Pennsylvania May 20, 1957, he lived in Portage his whole life until his diagnosis with ALS, then moving to Fort Pierce, Florida to commence a clinical trial for ALS patients in Miami.

He went on to college at Penn State and St. Francis graduating with a B.S. in business. He became a beloved residential supervisor at Ebensburg Center, working there 31 years until his battle with ALS began. Woody was also a member of the Portage Moose Lodge and Portage Italian Club where he could be found socializing, enjoying a beverage, and a Steelers game.

His survivors include his loving wife Marian, his Mother Lena Kleman, step-children Kathy Nesmith of Fort Pierce, Florida and Bob Nesmith, Daughter-in-law Shelby Nesmith, grandchildren Jack and Jayma Nesmith all of Howard, PA. Woody is also survived by his loving and faithful dog Taz.

He is preceded in death by his Father Elwood Kleman.

Funeral Information

A private family service will be held in Fort Pierce, Florida to honor Woody’s final wishes.
