Ned H. Eden, Jr.

Ned H. Eden, Jr., 86, of Fort Pierce, Florida died December 7, 2009 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. Mr. Eden was born in Waveland (now Sewells Point), Florida and has been a lifelong Treasure Coast resident.

Mr. Eden was a Veteran of World War II serving with the 82nd Airborne of the United States Army in the European Theater and the Middle Eastern Campaign. As a paratrooper on D-Day, he jumped behind enemy lines. Cpl. Eden was a P.O.W. having been captured in the St. Lo Engagement. He received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Before the war, Mr. Eden was a Tug Boat Operator and a Commercial Fisherman. Later in his life, Mr. Eden was a Construction Supervisor in road construction. He was a Master Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies of Lake Worth. Mr. Eden was a life member of Disabled Veterans of Port Saint Lucie and a member of Parkview Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughters, Cristine Eden and Cynthia S. Eden, both of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Andrea Cook of Orlando, Florida; stepdaughter, Sheila Eldreth of Mountain City, Tennesse; stepsons, Charles Cooley of Charlotte, North Carolina and David Cooley of Elizabethon, Tennessee; 9 grandchildren, Kristyn Kronsbein, Scott McClure, Stephanie Greer, Lindsay Cassara, Stephen Cooley, Kimberly Kahn, Tyler Cooley, Michael Cooley, Rhonda Stian; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Eden is preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Eden Valentine and his parents, Ned and Nora Randolff Eden.

Funeral Information

Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., December 11th at Yates Funeral Home, Fort Pierce.

A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Barrett officiating.

Burial with Military Honors will follow at South Florida VA National Cemetery, Lake Worth, Florida.
