Dr. Albert Samander

June 20, 1933 - January 20, 2012

Albert Samander M.D., 78, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida passed away January 20, 2012 at a local hospital. Dr. Samander was born in Curacao and he has been a resident of Port Saint Lucie for three years.
Dr. Samander was educated at the University of Bridgeport, Bridgeport, Connecticut, Loyola College of Medicine Chicago, Illinois, and a residency at Cook County Hospital, Chicago, Illinois, and Metropolitan City Hospital, New York City. He was a General Surgeon.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Linda Meyer Samander of Port Saint Lucie; seven children, Dr. Jay Samander of Jensen Beach, Florida, Cindy Samander of Orlando, Florida, John Samander of Danville, Illinois, Susan Behrensmeyer of Champaign, Illinois, Steven Samander of Amsterdam, Allin Samander of Chicago, Illinois, and Alisa Fajardo of Naples, Florida; eight grandchildren; brother Jozef Samander of Curacao; and sister, Viola Odeh of Palestine.
Dr. Samander is preceded in death by two brothers, Ibrahim Samander and Antoine Samander.

Funeral Information

Friends may call from 5 PM to 6 PM January 23, 2012 at Yates Funeral Home, Port Saint Lucie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM January 24, 2012 at Saint Lucie Catholic Church. Burial will follow in White City Cemetery.
