Emil Murtha

Emil Murtha, 82, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida passed away February 3, 2012 at Saint Lucie Medical Center, Port Saint Lucie. Mr. Murtha was born in Ozone Park, Queens, New York, moving to Port Saint Lucie in 1994 from Island Park, New York. He was educated at Woodrow Wilson High School; State University Agricultural and Technical College at Farmingdale, New York; Nassau Community college; and New York University. For fifteen years Mr. Murtha taught Industrial Arts at Oceanside, New York schools.
In his early career, Mr. Murtha was a sheet metal journeyman, later he owned and operated his own sheet metal business and owned and operated a liquor store and a laundromat. Locally Mr. Murtha served on the Savanna Club Property Owners Association Board of Directors. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Helen Murtha of Port Saint Lucie, Florida.

A funeral Mass will be held 11:30am Saturday June 2, 2012 at St.Catherine of Sienna Roman Catholic Church, 33 New Hyde Park Road, Franklin Square, New York
