Sis moved from Ann Arbor, Michigan to Fort Pierce, Florida in 1954 with her husband John (Jack) Brennan and their three children, Penny, Ann and Mike. She quickly found her place in the community. Her love of books led her to the Saint Lucie County Public Library where, over a period of ten years, she worked as a staff member and then as head librarian. In 1962, Jack and Sis moved to Sao Palo, Brazil where Jack served a Principal of the American School and Sis as the librarian of the school. They returned to Florida in the summers to add to the BA degrees from the University of Michigan two Master’s degrees; a Master’s of Library of Science for Sis and a Masters in Education Administration for Jack. In 1969 Jack and Sis returned from Sao Palo, Brazil to Fort Pierce, where Sis continued her library work, this time as head librarian at Fort Pierce Central High School. After Jack’s death in 1975, Sis continued to work but now added tennis and traveling to her list of enjoyable activities. Sis set the standard for being a daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her commitments were deep and unwavering.
