Domenic T. Port

January 22, 1943 - March 02, 2010

Domenic T. Port, 67, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, died March 2, 2010 at the Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, Florida. Born in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania, he had been a resident of Port Saint Lucie since 1985, coming from Chippewa Twp., Pennsylvania.

He attended BVM Catholic School through the eighth grade and graduated from Lincoln High School in Ellwood City.

He was a High School Biology Teacher, having received his Bachelors Degree in Education and Biology from Clarion University in Clarion, Pennsylvania and his Masters Degree in Curriculum & Supervision from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania, where he also received his Principal’s Papers. He was a member of Phi Sigma Epsilon Fraternity while at Clarion. He was a Founding Member and also a Member of the Board of Directors for the Cooperative Pre-School in Ellwood City, which is still in operation and was a Chief Negotiator for the School. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association. And was also a volunteer at “Contact Ears” – a help line.

Recently, he had taught at Westwood High School in Fort Pierce and Port Saint Lucie High School in Port Saint Lucie, where he was Department Chair for the Science Department for five years.

He is survived by his Wife of 19 years, Susan I. Port of Port Saint Lucie; two sons, Ronald Port and his wife Jill of Charlotte, North Carolina, & Michael Hallenstein of Port Saint Lucie; two daughters, Stacey Hanna and her husband Hoby of Solon, Ohio, & Kimberly Milligan and her husband Shannonof Port Saint Lucie; his Mother, Olga Port of Saint Augustine, Florida; & ten grandchildren, Landon Barsuglia, Jason Port, Kevin Port, Sophia Hanna, Timmy Port, Quint Hanna, Mason Milligan, Ryan Port, Finn Hanna & Cecilia Hanna.

Funeral Information

Friends may call March 5, 2010, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at the Yates Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Saint Lucie Chapel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated March 6, 2010 at 11:30 a.m., at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 930 SW Tunis Avenue, Port Saint Lucie.

Interment will follow at Rolling Oaks Cemetery, Port Saint Lucie.
