Helen Alma Tyner

Helen Alma McKinney Tyner, 90, a long time resident of Fort Pierce, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on Sept 6, 2010. A visitation will be held on Friday September 10, 2010 from 2 - 4PM at the Yates Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Pierce. The funeral service will immediately follow at 4:00PM. Interment will be immediately after the service at Riverview Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Pierce.
Alma was born June 6, 1920 in Slocomb Alabama to George and Bessie Taylor McKinney. She moved to Fort Pierce with her mother and step-father John Storman in 1930 at the age of 10. She was the loving wife of Cecil Radford Tyner, they met and married in April 1935. She was a housewife and mother to 6 beautiful children. Alma finished her education by taking mail order classes, receiving A's on her papers, she also encouraged her children to attend college. She had a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor. She so unselfishly took care of and watched her many grandchildren and great grandchildren throughout the years. Alma was an avid gardener and shared her love for plants and flowers, she had the proverbial green thumb. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Ft Pierce.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Cecil Radford Tyner; parents, George Henry McKinney, Bessie Taylor Storman; a sister Lois E. Storman Cintonz; a brother Alton C. Storman and her daughter Sarah Eloise Clance. Those who will keep her memory alive in our hearts include her sons of Ft Pierce, Alfred Cecil Tyner, William Eugene Tyner, daughters; Martha Alma Wells of Orlando, Sybil Elizabeth Parcell of Ft Pierce and Dorothy Delores Tyner of Virginia Beach, VA; also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. A host of beloved nieces and nephews.

Alma endured many struggles in her life. Through it all she remained steadfast in her faithfulness to God and to her family. Her life is a testimony that will encourage us all.
