John Alfred Manicone

John Alfred Manicone, 77, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida passed away February 16, 2012 at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, Fort Pierce, Florida.

Mr. Manicone was born to Joseph and Giulia Manicone and was raised in Queens, New York City, along with fraternal twin Nicholas; and sister, Anna Boulden. He moved to Port Saint Lucie twelve years ago; a happy transplant to sunny Florida; from Old Tappan, New Jersey.

Mr. Manicone was a High School Teacher and Dean for thirty years at High School of Fashion Industries, City of New York. He was a graduate of Xavier High School, received a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from New York University and a Master’s Degree from Columbia University. Mr. Manicone captured his teaching experiences in his book “The Furnace for Gold”.

Survivors include his wife of more than fifty years, Josephine Manicone of Port Saint Lucie; son, John A. Manicone, M.D. of Whippany, New Jersey; daughter, Joanne Goodman-Aponte of Orlando, Florida; two grandchildren; fraternal twin brother, Nicolas Manicone of Livingston, New Jersey; and sister, Anna Boulden of Saint John’s Island, South Carolina.

Funeral Information

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., February 20, 2012 at Saint Bernadette Catholic Church, Port Saint Lucie West. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Fort Pierce.
