Philip "Smitty" Smith

Philip “Smitty” Smith, 90, of Fort Pierce, Florida, passed away May 16, 2012 at Treasure Coast Hospice in Fort Pierce. Mr. Smith was born in Queensman, New York and came to the Treasure Coast from Rome, New York 60 years ago. He spent most of his time in Okeechobee, Florida before moving to Fort Pierce recently. He was retired and the former owner of Smitty’s TV Repair. Mr. Smith was veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. He was a member of the AmVets, American Legion, VFW, Moose Lodge, and Eagles Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Smith of Fort Pierce; son, Phillip Smith, Fort Pierce; daughters, Linda Parks, Port St. Lucie, Florida, Pamela Falls, Homosasso, Florida, and Barbara Camden, Fort Pierce; step children, Willie Turner of Ashburn, Georgia, Olan McCroan, and Patrick McCroan, of Fort Pierce;sisters, Kathleen Finster and Charlotte Binkley, of Rome, New York, Joyce Luck, Fort Pierce, and Rachel Wycoff, New Jersey; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Philip is preceded in death by his sister, Larine Wilson and brothers, Earl Sheldon and Vincent Smith.

Funeral Information

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 2nd at 2 pm at VFW Florida Post #10539, 3912 U.S. Highway 441 SE, Okeechobee, FL 34974.

Arrangements are with Yates Funeral Home & Crematory, 1101 South U.S. Highway 1, Fort Pierce, Florida 34950.
