Marjorie Cooper Baird

Marjorie Cooper Baird, 93, former resident of Fort Pierce, Florida died October 24, 2009 in Marietta, Georgia. Mrs. Baird was born in Dade County Florida, moving to Fort Pierce in 1933. Mrs. Baird and her husband, Milton W. Baird partnered to open Baird Funeral Home of Fort Pierce in 1949. The business closed after the death of her husband and in 1985, she moved to be near her children.

A member of First Baptist Church of Fort Pierce, Mrs. Baird sang in the choir and frequently performed as the featured soloist, not only in her own church but in other churches. She sang for weddings, funerals, civic events and family gatherings as well as later in life at her adult day center.

Survivors include her daughters, Janine Baird of Marietta, Georgia and Loy Baird Dorminey of Allon, Tennessee; son, Dr. Wilbur L. Biard of Atlanta, Georgia; brother, Dr. Edgar R. Cooper of Jacksonville, Florida; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Baird is preceded in death by her husband, Milton W. Baird; son, Richard R. Baird; and sister Wilma C. Cowles.

Funeral Information

A Memorial Service was Held November 1, 2009 in Marietta, Georgia.

A local Memorial Service and Inurnment will be announced for the spring of 2010.
