Charles V. Padrick, Jr.

Charles “Chuck” V. Padrick, Jr., 75, of Fort Pierce, Florida, died May 2, 2010 at his home. Born on May 24, 1934 in Fort Pierce, he was a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Fort Pierce High School, Class of 1952 and the University of Florida. He was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and a Life Member of the University of Florida Alumni Association.

Mr. Padrick was former City Commissioner/Mayor from 1970-1974.

After graduating from University of Florida, Chuck returned to Fort Pierce to become Parts Manager for the “family owned” Padrick Chevrolet Dealership. Founded in 1930, Padrick Chevrolet was the first Chevy Dealership in Fort Pierce which was later sold to Bill Shultz in 1970. Chuck also owned Padrick Auto Parts in Fort Pierce, held a Real Estate Brokers License with Town & Country Realty, was Parts and Service Manager at Truck & Trailer, Inc. owned by Marion and Madeline Sizemore and was Fleet Manager for St. Lucie County Central Services, prior to his retirement.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fort Pierce, Toastmasters of St. Lucie County, the Fort Pierce Lions Club, the Masonic Lodge #87 F.& A.M. in Fort Pierce, the Scottish Rite of Free Masonary, Shriner’s Mahi Temple and the Fort Pierce Shrine Club.

Known throughout Fort Pierce as an avid Florida Gator, Chuck could be seen driving his “orange & blue” Gator van. For more than forty years and through all kinds of weather, he stuck with his Florida Gators. GO GATORS!

He was predeceased by his Granddaughter, Christina Jean Padrick, Father, Charles “Pat” V. Padrick, Sr., and his Mother, Susie Elizabeth “Betty” Odom Padrick.

Survivors include his Wife of 57 years, Bessie “Betsy” C. Padrick of Fort Pierce; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles “Chuck” V. Padrick, III and Rebecca Padrick of Fort Pierce; daughter and son-in-law Bessie “Bess” Padrick McKinney and Carl “Doc” McKinney of Port St. Lucie & daughter Mary Grace Padrick of Fort Pierce; one sister, Norma Padrick McGuire of Fort Pierce; two brothers, William “Bill” E. Padrick of Fort Pierce & Thomas “Topper” Odom Padrick of Los Angeles, Calaifornia; five grandchildren; Natasha McKinney Jenkins of Vero Beach, Rebecca McKinney Moll of Fort Pierce, Rachel Padrick Miller of Fort Pierce, William McDonald of Fort Pierce & Larry “LJ” E. Dutro, Jr. of Fort Pierce; & nine great grandchildren.

Funeral Information

A Service to Celebrate His Life will be May 5, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 616 Orange Avenue, Fort Pierce, where the Family will receive Friends after 1:00 p.m.

Interment will be held privately by the family.

Donations Information

Contributions as a Memorial, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
