Raymond Paul Carnes Sr.February 01, 1932 - December 30, 2009
Raymond P. Carnes, 77, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, formerly of Toledo, Ohio went home to be in the Arms of the Lord on December 30, 2009. Raymond was born on February 1, 1932 in Toledo, Ohio. Ray served in the US Army on two separate tours of duty from May 1949 to August 1952 and from November 1953 to August 1955. Ray served in Japan for six months, and Germany for 20 months where he was a demolition Sergeant with the 432nd Combat Engineers. Ray also served in Korea for 16 months with the 24th Division of the 8th Army. For the last 23 years Ray has been employed as a sales person at Bill Schultz Chevrolet in Fort Pierce, Florida. Raymond has been a member of the American Legion Post 318 in Port Saint Lucie and a member of American Legion Post in Toledo, Ohio. Ray also bowled at the St. Lucie Lanes for approximately 15 years. Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Alice Carnes, a daughter, Tamara, and a brother, Richard Carnes. Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Helen Mitchell Carnes, his six children and their spouses, Rebecca Wick (Donald), of Port Saint Lucie, Fl; Debbie Sadowski (Frank), of Perrysburg, OH; Kathleen Wicks (Michael), of Port Saint Lucie, Fl; Cindy Jennings (Robert), of Tampa, Fl; Raymond Carnes II (Angie), of Port Charlotte, Fl; and Jeffrey Carnes (Cindy Jo), of Port Saint Lucie, Fl. Ray also leaves behind 21 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren, and his sisters, Shirley and Patsy, and Brothers, Harry and Tom, as well as many other cherished family members and dear friends. Funeral InformationA Visitation will be held on January 4th from 3:00-5:00PM & 7:00-9:00PM and again on January 5th from 2:00-4:00PM at the Yates Funeral Home & Crematory, Fort Pierce Chapel. A Service to Celebrate His Life will begin at 4:00PM on January 5th, with American Legion Post Chaplain, Sgt. Jack Hagar officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the Family.
