George Arvil "Gabby" Black

George Arvil “Gabby” Black, 78, of Ocala, Florida passed away January 18, 2012 at his home. Mr. Black was born in Sebastian, Florida, moving to Fort Pierce as a child. He moved to Ocala five years ago.

Mr. Black was formerly employed by Eli Witt, Southland Corporation and as a commercial fisherman. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Ocala Christian Church.

Survivors include his life partner, Patricia Law of Ocala; two sons, Scott Alogna and his wife, Lori of Texas and Frank Alogna and his wife, Judy of Ocala; two grandchildren Joe and Scott Jr.; brother, Rodney Black of Fort Pierce; sister, Mary Paul of Pamlico Sound, North Carolina; and his beloved dog, “Chance”.

Gabby is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Loca Owens Black; son, James Black; brothers, Edward F. Black and Raymond J. Black; sister, Beatrice Reitz; nephew, Jason Black; niece, Donna Segobia.

Funeral Information

Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m., Saturday, January 21st at Yates Funeral Home, Fort Pierce. A funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Craig Bridgers officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
