Sylvia Delores Soltero Swinskey Serynek, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, dear friend and sister, passed away on Tuesday, June 21st, 2011 in Ft. Pierce, Florida. She was born in Manhattan, NY, on March 6th, 1923. She was married on September 8th, 1945 to Edward George Swinskey (Mike) where she resided in Jersey City, as a homemaker. They had five children.
The family moved to Bayville, New Jersey where she became employed with JCPenney. She moved to Florida in 1979 after Mike’s death. She worked at JC Penney in Vero Beach for twenty years, and then was employed by Stein & Co Roofing until her retirement. She was a volunteer at Mustard Seed Ministries for several years and was named their “Volunteer of the Year” for several years running. She also was a valued volunteer at Harvest House.
Sylvia was a much loved and cherished woman. All who met her loved her dearly. She was a vital and integral part of her friends’ and family’s lives. She was treasured by her family and friends.
She is survived by her children Susan L. Plaag of Fort Pierce, James M. Swinskey (Karen) of Barnegat, NJ, Janet A. Stein (Robert) of Weaverville, NC, Karen Cunningham (Brian) of Vero Beach, FL, Douglas E. Swinskey of St. Petersburg, Fl.
Her grandchildren include Ryan Swinskey, Kendyl Starosta, Daniel Swinskey, Lyndsay Cunningham, Jade Drndak, Dyana Swinskey, Theodore Stein, Kelsey Cunningham, Brandon Swinskey, Danielle Stein, and Andrew Stein and her six great-grandchildren, Logan, Nathan, Chloe, Owen, Guy, and baby Mia. She was preceded in death by her second husband, Conrad Serynek.

Funeral Information

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, June 25th, 2011, at the Common Ground Vineyard Church, located at 600 Atlantic Ave, Fort Pierce, Fl.
