Roberta L. Pruitt

Roberta Lee Pruitt,75, beloved wife of Richard H. Pruitt; mother of Paige Haase of Portland, and Gregory Pruitt (deceased); sister of Dr. William Weissert of Tallahassee, FL; and Margaret Miller of Riverview, FL, succumbed to lung cancer September 6, surrounded by family and friends in her home in Port St. Lucie, FL. She is also survived by daughter-in-law Erin Pruitt and grandsons Alexander, Nicholas and William Pruitt of Ridgewood, NJ, who were her delight. At age 17, she struck out on her own from Ohio for Los Angeles to become an advertising copywriter. Later moved to Portland, where she met and fell in love with fellow copywriter Richard Pruitt, to whom she was married for 48 years. Roberta had also become a successful real estate agent in Houston and Atlanta. Always a Democrat, bold duplicate bridge player, superb cook and avid NPR listener. Having lived in many places in the U.S., she also lived with her family in Hong Kong and Toronto and enjoyed world travels. Her wit was quick and her opinions strong. She will be missed.
