Hoyt M. "Woody" Woods

February 20, 1947 - March 04, 2010

Hoyt C. "Woody" Woods, 63, of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, died March 4, 2010 at his home in Port Saint Lucie. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, he had been a resident of Port Saint Lucie since 1982 coming from Massachusetts. He was a Police Officer in Longmeadows, Massachusetts, prior to moving to Florida. Once settled in Florida, he worked for Florida Power & Light, from where he retired.

He and his Friends established and were Charter Members of the Viet Nam Veterans of America, Chapter #127 in Martin County. He was the Chairman of the Martin County Veterans Council for more than fifteen years and was affiliated with all the Service Organization, including the Am Vets, American Legions, V.F.W.'s, the Elks, and other Civic Organizations. He was also instrumental with the creation of the ongoing Honor Flight Program.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-five years, Joyce Woods of Port Saint Lucie; two sons, Micki Woods of Chicopee, Massachusetts, & Shawn Woods of Pocasset, Massachusetts; two daughters, Wendi Todd & Angela Woods, both of Port Saint Lucie; two brothers, Michael Woods of Agawan, Massachusetts, & Christopher Woods of Springfield, Massachusetts; five sisters, Katherine Aniello of Palm City, Florida, Eileen Mason of Springfield, Massachusetts, Patricia Woods of Holyoke, Massachusetts, Mary Thompson of Chicopee, Massachusetts, & Elizabeth Woods, of Worcester, Massachusetts; & one grandson, Brian Hoyt Todd.

He was predeceased by his Brother, William Woods, Jr.

Funeral Information

The Family will receive Friends March 9, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Yates Funeral Home & Crematory, Port Saint Lucie Chapel.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated March 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m., at the Church of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, 930 SW Tunis Avenue, Port Saint Lucie, where a Commital with Full Military Honors take place. All are invited back to Woody's home following the Mass.

Interment will be held privately by the Family.
